Anna Hirai

Anna Hirai is responsible for voting and engagement activity on key issues for L&G’s Asset Management division, with a focus on transport sectors and sustainability themes such as climate, nature and corporate governance.

She also supports various thematic engagement campaigns including Climate Impact Pledge, and contributes to the generation of exclusion lists, including Future World Protection List.

Anna joined L&G in 2022 from SquareWell Partners where she held the title of Co-Head of ESG Research.

She led thematic research on environmental and social issues for publicly listed companies in Europe as well as supporting research projects for activist situations in Japan.

Prior to that, she worked as an ESG Research Analyst at Vigeo Eiris, which became part of Moody’s ESG Solutions, where she rated ESG practice and performance of listed companies in Japan.

Anna graduated from University College London with a BA in history, politics, and economics. Anna is fluent in English and Japanese.
